Memorial for Ralph Neely

By Ralph’s friend Ray

Ralph Neely was a social friend of mine. We were housed in Dorm together, we worked garment factory together total 19 years. He was serving a life sentence had 26 years completed was Parole eligible, awaiting parole. We shared alot of stories, our Kids, our past, we did not care to share names or certain events. That made our friendship better. We both felt in our own ways bragging about Kids, family, friends, was a cover up, we hurt all of them. The things they have done without us is worth bragging about. Pray from what we’ve learned an’ will do when get to be with them.

Things that set Neely apart from others an’ kept my ears an’ eyes open. Neely had a way when [people in our unit] were arguing, fighting, he would say “well if we look at [it] this way” an’ give a story. 98% of the time all would be in another mood an’ have something to ponder on. Neely studied several religions not one. He could draw a crowd at a table[:] Baptists, Jews, Muslims, Sabbath, (Adventists) others even I don’t know. That’s Amazing! Other things [he discussed:] Military, cars, trucks, homes, [you] name it. Neely was a workaholic, that frustrated younger Men, but, later had good effect. I truly miss Mr. Neely. May God Bless him, (Amen). It takes a lot to be able to do what I stated above, that’s a learning fact!
