On October 26, 2020, Tera Erin Prado passed away at a hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Tera was a loving mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend to many who will miss her dearly. She was born on December 31, 1979 and grew up in Lexington, where she lived until she was incarcerated. She married her husband on April 16, 2004 and had two sons and one daughter. Tera was a caring person who looked out for others. In 2018, she posted a fundraiser on her Facebook page asking her friends to donate to No Kid Hungry. She captioned the post, “Help these babies that don’t have the way to eat.” She enjoyed singing competitions, and she shared many clips from them on her Facebook page for her friends to see. She had a close relationship with her mother, Sherri Peters, and posted on multiple occasions for her birthday and Mother’s Day on Facebook.

Sherri updated her Facebook cover photo on January 1, 2021 to feature a picture of Tera sitting on a motorcycle, smiling. Tera’s son, Antonio Prado, commented, “I love you so much nanna I love mommy and I miss her!” to which Sherri responded, “me too Tony I’m heartbroken.” On the tribute wall of Tera’s obituary, her friend Leann Navarro commented, “Tera is gone but never forgotten by me and many of her other friends I love you girl and you [know] I did my A1 since day1 until we are together again my crazy ass homegirl👼. I love you girl💖👼😢😢💔💔.”

Tera was incarcerated at the Fayette County Detention Center in Lexington at the time of her passing. According to reporting by WKYT News Staff, a press release detailed that Tera was “suffering from apparent medical distress” on the evening of October 25. She was taken to a hospital, where she passed away barely twelve hours later. The next day, Lexington Police and the Fayette’s County Coroner’s Office were still investigating the cause of her death; it remains unknown whether Tera had COVID-19 and if the virus was related to her illness.

Tera was a social and caring person, and she will be dearly missed. We mourn her loss.
